Exercises for Pointe – Turnout

Exercises for Pointe — Turnout Students have said to me – why do I need  turnout exercises to get ready for pointe? Exercises for turnout are vitally important for pointe work.   When you’re standing with your foot on the floor, even in releve, you can use the pressure of the floor to help you hold the turnout.  When you’re standing [...] Pointe Shoes Online – Find the perfect pointe at discount prices … Read entire article »

Best Pointe Shoes for Beginners

Best Pointe Shoes for Beginners I’m often asked what are the best pointe shoes for beginners. I wish there was an easy answer, and I’m sure every ballet school in the country feels the same! Unfortunately, the best pointe shoe for any beginner has more to do with the shape of her foot than her dance experience, so there’s no [...] Pointe Shoes Online – Find the perfect pointe at discount prices … Read entire article »

The Art of Belly Dance, for Beginners: Arabian Sands

I feel like IAMED are trying to cover too many bases with this DVD!  “The Art of Belly Dance for Beginners” suggest it’s for people who want to learn belly dancing;  but the second half, “Instruction and Flexibility Workout” make it sound like a fitness tape. In fact, both are true to a degree.  Watching it, I get a sneaky… Read more → The post The Art of Belly Dance, for Beginners: Arabian Sands appeared first on BellyDanceOz Shop. … Read entire article »

Bellydance Underworld

Bellydance Underworld Am I getting old?  With a few honorable exceptions, I found most of the routines on this DVD terminally boring. It’s a nice choreography, useful for Intermediates who are ready to be challenged by some of the steps. Suhaila Instructional Series: Stretch and Tone for Belly Dancing

This production was originally made almost twenty years ago, and is now available on DVD.   For those who know Suhaila today, she looks startlingly young on this video! It’s a useful 20-minute workout, but most people would expect a lot more than that from a DVD these days. If you’re an avid Suhaila fan, then no doubt you’d like to… Read more → The post Suhaila Instructional Series: Stretch and Tone for Belly Dancing appeared first on BellyDanceOz Shop. … Read entire article »
